Couldn't pay them

The U.S. Military is paying Iraqi newspapers to print positive stories about the situation in Iraq.

Interesting contrast compared to the American press.

There's no way you could get ABC, or NBC or AL-ja-CNN to do a positive story about Iraq, no matter how much you paid them.

As I see it that makes the Iraqi press more honest and more free than the American press.
