George Bush didn't lie to take this country to war either. At worst it could be accurately said that he went to war based on mistaken intel. Intel that the entire world believed up un till it became politically convenient not to.
Commenter #2
The entire world except the millions of people who marched through world capitals because they knew it was bullshit. The entire world except the other three permanent members of the UN security council (other than US and UK). The entire world except Hans Blix, the UN Chief Weapons Inspector. No, the entire world did not believe this 'info', and unless Bush and Blair are terminally stupid, neither did they. Which means they lied.
Bill Replies.
Just because some-body marches in the streets doesn't mean they are right.
French Intel said Saddam had massive stockpiles of WMD.
German Intel said Saddam had massive stockpiles of WMD.
Russian Intel said Saddam had massive stockpiles of WMD.
UN Intel said Saddam had massive stockpiles of WMD.
Every Intel source in the world said Saddam had massive stockpiles of WMD.
John Kerry said Saddam had massive stockpiles of WMD.
Saddam said Saddam had massive stockpiles of WMD.
Lots of Iraqi defectors said Saddam had stockpiles of WMD.
Before the invasion I can't find a single credible source that said the WMD didn't exist including Saddam's Generals.
The French, German, and Russian governments, and the UN said Saddam needed to be toppled because he was a danger to the world.
None of those governments had the guts to actually do anything. The U.S. did.
And just one more point.
In recent days Russia has admitted helping Iraq transport weapons into Syria before and during the invasion. Satellite photos support this. I'm thinking that the first weapons they would have transferred would be the WMD.
Just because we didn't find WMD after the invasion doesn't mean it wasn't there.
Hans Blix???
Here's what Hans Blix said about ONE chemical, VX gas.
And it sound to me like he is saying that 1000 tons of the most deadly chemical agent in the world is unaccounted for.
THE SECURITY COUNCIL, 27 JANUARY 2003:
AN UPDATE ON INSPECTION
Executive Chairman of UNMOVIC, Dr. Hans Blix
From http://www.un.org/Depts/unmovic/Bx27.htm
Chemical weapons
The nerve agent VX is one of the most toxic ever developed.
Iraq has declared that it only produced VX on a pilot scale, just a few tonnes and that the quality was poor and the product unstable. Consequently, it was said, that the agent was never weaponised. Iraq said that the small quantity of agent remaining after the Gulf War was unilaterally destroyed in the summer of 1991.
UNMOVIC, however, has information that conflicts with this account. There are indications that Iraq had worked on the problem of purity and stabilization and that more had been achieved than has been declared. Indeed, even one of the documents provided by Iraq indicates that the purity of the agent, at least in laboratory production, was higher than declared.
There are also indications that the agent was weaponised. In addition, there are questions to be answered concerning the fate of the VX precursor chemicals, which Iraq states were lost during bombing in the Gulf War or were unilaterally destroyed by Iraq.
I would now like to turn to the so-called “Air Force document” that I have discussed with the Council before. This document was originally found by an UNSCOM inspector in a safe in Iraqi Air Force Headquarters in 1998 and taken from her by Iraqi minders. It gives an account of the expenditure of bombs, including chemical bombs, by Iraq in the Iraq-Iran War. I am encouraged by the fact that Iraq has now provided this document to UNMOVIC.
The document indicates that 13,000 chemical bombs were dropped by the Iraqi Air Force between 1983 and 1988, while Iraq has declared that 19,500 bombs were consumed during this period. Thus, there is a discrepancy of 6,500 bombs. The amount of chemical agent in these bombs would be in the order of about 1,000 tonnes. In the absence of evidence to the contrary, we must assume that these quantities are now unaccounted for.

The Taliban in Afghanistan took power long after we left.
Commenter #2
Long after we left where? The US supported, funded and promoted the Taliban (then known as the Mujahadeen) because they were fighting the 'Communist Invaders'. It was US weapons and money that put the Taliban into power, it was US total disinterest in their human rights violations that kept them there.
The facts from http://www.infoplease.com/spot/taliban.html
Groups of taliban ("religious students") were loosely organized on a regional basis during the occupation and civil war. Although they represented a potentially huge force, they didn't emerge as a united entity until the taliban of Kandahar made their move in 1994. In late 1994, a group of well-trained taliban were chosen by Pakistan to protect a convoy trying to open a trade route from Pakistan to Central Asia. They proved an able force, fighting off rival mujahideen and warlords. The taliban then went on to take the city of Kandahar, beginning a surprising advance that ended with their capture of Kabul in September 1996.
The facts from http://www.mediamonitors.net/mosaddeq2.html
By 1991-92, the US and the USSR finally reached an agreement that neither would continue to supply aid to any faction in Afghanistan. However, the numerous militant factions previously funded and armed by the US have been vying for supremacy. One of the armed Afghan factions funded by the CIA during this war was the Taliban, an apparently Islamic movement. With the departure of Soviet troops in 1989, these factions began vying with one another for supremacy, the Taliban eventually arising as the dominant force in Afghanistan. As a coherent politico-military faction or movement, the Taliban did not exist prior to October 1994, but were members of other factions such as Harakat-e Islami and Mohammad Nabi Mohammadi, or operated independently without a centralised command centre.
The reality being that The Taliban were a loose structure of small groups that the U.S helped during their war to throw the Soviet Union out of Afghanistan. But it seems the U.S. did not help them gain control of Afghanistan or support then after they did so.

Saddam took power long before we were interested. We did however give him some support during his war against Iran.

The reason we thought he had WMD (if we did) was because WE SOLD IT TO HIM. The US and other Western powers sold chemical and biological agents and manufacturing equipment to Iraq, and various other military equipment. He was our friend, until we decided otherwise.
Nasty, dirty little dealings that have cost countless lives. And all based on lies and greed. It's disgusting.
'For evil to triumph requires only that good men do nothing'. GB is the only man in the world who could have averted the current evil. Even if he did not contribute to it, he did nothing to stop it. Not a very Christian person, then.
From http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/middle_east/iraq/war/player1.html
On July 16, 1979, President al-Bakr resigned and Saddam rose to the presidency. Five of his fellow members of the Revolutionary Command Council were quickly accused of involvement in a coup attempt and executed, along with 17 other rivals.
That last paragraph is some of the most twisted logic I have ever seen.
'For evil to triumph requires only that good men do nothing'. GB is the only man in the world who could have averted the current evil. Even if he did not contribute to it, he did nothing to stop it. Not a very Christian person, then.
Saddam was truely one of the most evil men in history, his sons were equal or worse. George Bush DID act to end the evil that ws the Saddam family. Because of George W Bush Saddam and his sons and government are no longer murdering raping and torturing. Whoever this person was who posted here is they had no understanding of what evil is.
Saddam's evil

Stem Cell Research, Fact vs. Fiction
Stem Cell ResearchFact vs. Fiction
FICTION:
There is a ban on stem cell research in the United States. This is fiction!
FACT:
No such ban exists. President Bush disallowed only federal funding of the kind of stem cell research that would require the killing of human embryos.
Last year, the Bush Administration provided over $200 million for stem cell research, of which about $190 million was allotted for research on adult stem cells. Adult stem cell research is the only stem cell research that has yielded any clinical benefits for humans.
FICTION:
Embryonic stem cell research (which requires the killing of human embryos) is on the verge of producing cures for serious illnesses and there is no other way to obtain these cures. This is fiction!
FACT:
Embryonic stem cells have not helped one single human patient. Actually, it is research with adult stem cells that have shown very positive results.
Adult stem cells have helped hundreds of thousands of patients, including those with diseases like Parkinson's, sickle-cell anemia, heart damage, and brain and spinal cord injuries. New clinical uses expand almost weekly.
MORE info about A QaQaa
It now turns out that the explosives were lost during a time when the UN was supposed to be watching them.I bet John Kerry will never admitt that. And he especcially will never berate his beloved UN the way he has George W Bush.
And I bet he'll never appologize for his LIES about George W Bush.
More info on al qaqaa.
So more info comes out. After the press has spent a day stomping around yelling about how George W is totally incompetent because he lost all those explosives. And of course John Kerry has had a chance to say the same thing.I learned today from FOX news that the 101st Airborne inspected that site days after the invasion and the explosives were already gone.
Al-JaCNN, Al-JaABC Al-JaETC..... knew this yesterday but didn't tell us until today. Typical tactic of the liberal biased press, give out only the info that supports their political viewpoint, ignore the rest.
But the damage is done. They were able to bad mouth George W Bush for a good 24 hours.
So did Saddam move these explosives?
I still say that, just like the WMD, if we can't find it now, it never existed.
And if a bunch of high explosives are used in an attempted terrorist attack again the Jordanian capitol, like those three truck loads ofVS gas """WMD""" were a few months ago. Then the explosives used didn't come from Iraq. Of course!
This Al Qaqaa thing is really turning into a fresh steaming pile of caca.
380 tons of Explosives missing in Iraq.
We're hearing today that a huge stockpile of high explosives has dissapeared from Al Qaqaa in Iraq. (CNN) -- Some 380 tons of explosives powerful enough to detonate nuclear warheads are missing from a former Iraqi military facility that was supposed to be under American control, the U.N.'s nuclear watchdog says.
Melissa Fleming, spokeswoman for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), told CNN the interim Iraqi government reported several days ago that the explosives were missing from the Al Qaqaa complex, south of Baghdad.
194.7 metric tons of HMX, High Melting Point Explosive
141.2 metric tons of RDX, Rapid Detonation Explosive
5.8 metric tons of PETN, Pentaerythritol Tetranitrate
The one thing I haven't heard is exactly when this stuff was last seen. Which would give some indication of who is responsibility.
If it was still there as of June 28th, it became missing on the Iraqi Government's watch.
If it went missing before then, but after the invasion it's the U. S. Military we should be pointing fingers at.
If it went missing before the invasion it is Saddam and his government who are responsible.
Actually I have solution that the traditional dead tree big transmitter press will have to accept.
We can't find it, so it never existed.
Why do I say that?
Because it is just like the WMD. It's a weapon we say Saddam had. But now we can't find it, so it never existed.
I sit and watch the news and hear all the experts saying how dangerous these weapons could be if they got into terrorist hands, all the while they are somehow totally forgetting all the WMD that dissapeared which may have gotten into terrorosts hands.
But you see those WMDs never existed because the press doesn't want them to have existed.
Kind of goes round and round........................
