Russian 9/11?
It looks like Russia suffered a 9/11 Tuesday.A terror attack was the first thing most people thought of when they heard that two planes had crashed almost simultaneously in Russia Tuesday.
Today the news is saying that traces of explosives have been found on both planes and that there was one Chechen woman on each plane and those two bodies are the only ones not claimed by their families.
So it looks like another Chechen terrorist attack.
It will be interesting to see what the Russians do about this. You can bet that security at Russian airports will be tightened and they won't have to play PC games to prevent charges of Racial Profiling.
"Excuse me MR. Chechen. Please step into this room and disrobe." "Ivan, put your gloves on, time for another body cavity search"
The Root Cause of Terrorism
What is the root cause of terrorism? This author has a pretty interesting theory of what causes terrorism and how to end terrorism.
The Root Cause of Terrorism
Alice Cooper makes statement about who you should listen to
A Rock Legend and Icon of my teen years yesterday made a statement about a subject dear to my heart. Celebrities, in this case Rock Stars, and people listening to their political opinions.Ultimately celebrities are just people like you and me, most of them don't have a clue.
Now If I wanted to know how to make a hit record I might ask Britney Spears for advice.
But the fact that Britney is a popular celebrity means nothing when it comes to deciding who you should vote for.
No offence meant to Britney Spears, she is good at what she does, and while her music rarely interests me I have to respect her accomplishments.
And slightly off the subject.
It really chaps my behind when I see the U.S. Congress listening attentively to some Hollywood actor who plays a doctor on TV, "testifying" in a hearing that is going to have long lasting affect on our medical future.
Back to the original rant.....
Alice Cooper's statement about listening to the political opinions of Rock Stars.
The rock legend was disgusted when he learned of plans by Bruce Springsteen, John Mellencamp, R.E.M. and other bands to hold a series of concerts aimed at unseating U.S. President George W. Bush.
"To me, that's treason. I call it treason against rock 'n' roll because rock is the antithesis of politics. Rock should never be in bed with politics," says the 56-year-old Cooper. "When I was a kid and my parents started talking about politics, I'd run to my room and put on the Rolling Stones as loud as I could. So when I see all these rock stars up there talking politics, it makes me sick."
"If you're listening to a rock star in order to get your information on who to vote for, you're a bigger moron than they are. Why are we rock stars? Because we're morons. We sleep all day, we play music at night and very rarely do we sit around reading the Washington Journal."
Oh boy, those rock stars can play guitar, and they do lots of drugs! I'm going to vote for who ever they tell me to.
Welcome to my Nightmare!
SWIFT boat smoke screen.
I for one am getting pretty tired of the SWIFT boat controversy.I support President Bush for reelection and think that John Kerry is just about the worst possible choice for President right now, short of Jane Fonda that is.
But, the SWIFT boat thing is not what we should be talking about.
And that is exactly why John Kerry wants us to talk about it.
He doesn't want us to talk about his voting record in the Senate, and so long as the SWIFT boat controversy rages, we won't be.
Here is his voting record
John Kerry's voting record
What the Washington Times published about John Kerry's voting record.
You might want to go there and see if you agree with his past votes. That is the real test of whether you agree with a candidate or not.
On a scale that ranges from 0 to 100, Mr. Kerry compiled a composite liberal score for 2003 of 96.5, the highest in the Senate. He eclipsed proud liberals like Paul Sarbanes (94.7) of Maryland, Barbara Boxer (91.2) of California, Tom Harkin (89.3) of Iowa and the Senate's liberal lion, Edward Kennedy (88.3), his Massachusetts colleague. It was the fourth time in his 20-year Senate career that Mr. Kerry compiled a composite voting record that was unsurpassed in its liberalism by any of the other 99 members of the Senate.
I don't think this country EVER needs to have a extreme right wing or extreme left wing President. The extremes of neither part represent the majority of American People.
George Bush on the other hand has shown himself to be a pretty much mainstream conservative, (meaning not a far right conservative) and has on more than one occasion since taking the office of President crossed the aisle and supported liberal policies. Remember the Medicare Prescription bill that GWB pushed through? That is about as liberal a piece of legislation s I have ever seen.
So of our to choices, which do you think is better for the country, a far left liberal or a midrange conservative?
And one more thing before I push the post button.
I keep hearing people lately saying that it is your duty to vote.
It is, but that is not your whole duty.
It's your duty to LEARN ABOUT THE ISSUES then cast an EDUCATED VOTE.
It's more than just cruising down to the polling place and pulling a lever.
