They have attacked us time after time. The real problem is the wackos have a lot of support throughout the Muslim world. And as time has gone by they just get more support. If they don't have wide spread support, how come no major Muslim cleric has ever REALLY condemned the 9/11 attacks?
Why was Saddam a target in the war on terror?

There was another terrorist training camp in North Eastern Iraq.
Saddam was a Jihadist Terror supporter and enabler.
He had WMD, at one time. He was continuing to try to get more WMD. He was continuing to try to gather and create the devices to build WMD.
It only makes sense that if he had ever gotten sufficient WMD he would have given it to Terror groups.
Gee I wonder what those terrorist groups, which have stated over and over that they want to get WMD would do with them if they got them?
We did away with Saddam to keep him from continuing to support terror.
I see no difference between people in civilian clothes, supported by Iraq, sneaking around and attacking a country, and people wearing Iraqi Uniforms attacking a country. Either is an act of war requiring proper response.

I really don't understand how anyone who has not been living in a spider hole the last 3 years could possibly not understand why toppling Saddam is necessary.
So far as what is going on right now in Iraq...
If we walked out now it would turn into a bloody civil war that and there would be more people killed in the next year than all of the time Saddam was in charge.
Iran, Alqeada, and probably Syria would send troops, clerics and wackos into Iraq and what develops from that would probably be far worse than Saddam ever thought of being.
We have to stay until the people of Iraq have a government of their own, and the ability to protect themselves from outsiders.
If by some miracle they manage to create a free open society under a democratically elected government, that would be the death knell to Jihadist terror. Freedom would spread throughout the middle east and the middle east would be pulled out of the economic and cultural cesspool they have been in for the last millinea or so.
