Keep your clothes on on Family TV.
Janet Jackson bared her breast on live family TV. What exactly was the point of that? I feel she is trying to force her view of what TV should be about on me and you.
It seems today every entertainer or entertainment source is trying to push the envelope, or just plain jump across the line.
I watched an Episode of "Still Standing" last week. It's a family sitcom, so they say. The story line was about a teenage boy who didn't want to shower with the other guys. At first everybody thought that it was because this geeky teen had a small penis. But as the story unfolded, it turned out that he had a big one! Just a couple of years ago that sort of story line would never have been allowed in prime time or even late night. Imagine Andy Griffith discovering that Oppie had a big one!
Am I some kind of fossil because I think family TV should be something I feel comfortable watching with my teenage daughter, or my 6 year old granddaughter, or my mother?
Am I confused when I think that the vast majority of people in this country (world ?) want to be able to turn on the TV and not be embarrassed at what their kids are seeing?
I feel betrayed when something like the Janet Jackson Boob thing happens on a FAMILY TV show.
If Janet wants to get naked for her fans she can do a Playboy shoot like her sister did.
Just keep your clothes on, and your language clean on broadcast TV.
It's like going to the grocery store. The can says "green beans" you expect to find green beans in it. If you find peaches, you are upset. Broadcast TV is family viewing, I shouldn't find nudity in it. I shouldn't find foul language.
The Star Wars Movies, and The Lord of the Rings Trilogy are among of the most successful movies ever!
And there wasn't one foul word in the entirety of those 8 movies. Princess Leia didn't run around with her breast hanging out. She and Han Solo didn't do a nude lovemaking scene. Liv Tyler didn't have to get naked with Strider to make it clear that they were in love. Eowyn and Strider didn't have to roll in the hay to let us know that there was an attraction there,
We never saw a sign of Frodo's buns. Or Gimli's. (Thank God :) )
Stunts like this are done by stupid people who know they aren't talented or intelligent enough to come up with something people will buy without the shock and nudity and sex. This is just Jackass TV, by and for Jackasses.
